Kids and Community Service

Here at First Methodist Church of Grandview we value volunteer work, not only for adults to be involved in but also for kids to be involved in. 

Kids Mission and Serving Opportunities: 

Kids for Change

Every fourth Sunday of the month the children (Elementary Class) collect change from the congregation to benefit various organizations in the community. They have benefitted animal shelters, Johnson County CASA, the community garden, Cook Childrens, and the local first responders.

Acolytes

Each Sunday children of the church (Elementary Class) have the opportunity to be a part of the worship service by bringing in the light of Christ. 

Back Pack Ministry

FMC Grandview, The Talbert Foundation, Grandview Elementary, and Tarrant Area Food Bank partner together to provide nourishment on weekends for children at high risk of hunger. Our youth (Youth Class) help fill the backpacks with food, a kids bulletin with a Bible story, and prays over the bags of food. 

Operation Christmas Child

The youth (Youth Class) goes out and gathers items such as hygene products, school supplies, toys, books, and socks. Then the youth fills the Operation Christmas Child boxes with these supplies, writes a letter to the kid that will be recieving the box, and delivers them to the local center. These boxes will then be sent to kids all over the world as Christmas presents and to be used to teach the kids about Jesus. 

Tarrant Area Food Bank

The youth (Youth Class) goes to the Tarrant Area Food Bank to help put together boxes of food that will be used in the upcoming week to give to people in need. 

Vacation Bible School 

The youth (Youth Class) help lead Vacation Bible School by being leaders in the worship, teachers, and helpers. The role of the youth in Vacation Bible School is so vital because the kids attending look up to them. 

Seasonal Events: 

The youth (Youth Class) also volunteer at seasonal events such as the Lord's Acre, Easter Eggstravaganza, and Back-to-School Bash.
