OUR BELIEFS
We believe a church is more than a building. It's a community of Christ-followers seeking to learn from each other, care for each other, and share God's love with the world. We believe that together we can make a difference in the lives of our church families as well as the community as a whole--and we believe we can have fun along the way! Church should be a place of reverence, but it should also be a place of laughter, friendship, and joy. We hope you will join us on the adventure! We're not perfect, but church isn't a place for perfect people. It's a place for people who are doing their best to love God, love others, and serve the world.

Since its inception, God’s Spirit has enlivened the Methodist movement. In the 1720s John and Charles Wesley and friends at Oxford University met together to deepen their Christian faith through daily, practical spiritual disciplines. Derided by others as a “new sect of Methodists” for their “methodical” ways of practicing the faith and holding one another accountable to it, the small group embraced the insult and persevered in their fellowship. And so they and the millions who followed after them have ever since been known as “the people called Methodists.”

In that spirit, this Book of Doctrines and Discipline of the Global Methodist Church is intended to serve as a resource for all who wish to join in a “methodical,” practical, and warm- hearted pursuit of loving God and serving others as Jesus’ disciples in the world. Beginning with confessions rooted in Scripture and shaped by the great teaching of the Church universal, the Book of Doctrines and Discipline provides the essential structure for the Global Methodist Church from its official launch on May 1, 2022. It is offered with the prayer that it will help guide us in a new season of the church’s life as we make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness across the globe.

First Methodist Grandview is a member of the Mid-Texas Conference of the Global Methodist Church. The Sacrament of Holy Communion is offered on 1st and 3rd Sundays and is open to all wish to follow Christ more closely and approach with a humble, repentant spirit regardless of age, church membership, or denominational affiliation.

If you feel called to follow Christ for the first time or are seeking a new church home, please contact the church office to set up an appointment with Pastor Sharon. She would be honored to pray with you and for you and answer any questions you have about baptism and church membership.
