Kids for Change - This quarters Kids for Change will go to the Community Garden!
Every fourth Sunday of the month all the children in the church gather at the communion rail during the call for the offering. Each child has a red or black bucket and when the blessing for the offering is complete, they go through the pews and ask the congregation for whatever pocket change they might have. At the beginning of every quarter the children decide on how they can best spend the monies collected to Change their community. They have had food drives for the Grandview Food Bank, purchased items for the Alvarado Animal Shelter, donated to Johnson County CASA at their annual superhero run.
All staff members and volunteers with children and youth are required to undergo training before being able to work with our children and youth; therefore, volunteers with either group must submit a completed application for volunteering in order to be registered for the training and subsequent background check. Following training, volunteers are given a copy of the MinistrySafe policy/policies for the appropriate age group and will be required to sign and return an acknowledgement sheet indicating that the policy has been received and will be followed.
FUMC Grandview is in compliance with the Central Texas Conference in our use of the MinistrySafe guidelines to ensure that our children and youth are able to engage in our worship and ministry opportunities with individuals who have undergone MinistrySafe training and have had a successful background check completed. If you feel you are called to work with our children and/or our youth, please contact Cindy Heron for an application to be used to begin this volunteer opportunity.
The FUMC Safety Committee is comprised of the following individuals, any of whom can answer questions you may have related to the policies and procedures for enlisting as a volunteer with our youth and children.
